🏥 Assessing the security of healthcare and hospital infrastructure

🔷 As part of the current AHEAD foresight cycle which tackles the resilient infrastructure destination, an in-person backcasting exercise was organised and conducted by the University of Ghent in Brussels on 13 June.

🔶 Focusing on ” healthcare and hospital infrastructure security” as a subtopic, the thought-provoking exercise was meant to collect insights into challenges and threats facing the healthcare sector with a view to informing a capability roadmap and developing specific action plans and priorities.

🔷 In collaboration with the Belgian National Crisis Centre (NCCN), 20 professionals from various backgrounds, including practitioners, academics, policymakers, technologists, and consultants in health-specific infrastructure security, were identified and invited over.

🔶 Reflecting on four different scenarios describing possible futures, the participants were first prompted to adopt a backwards stance in order to identify the steps linking the end situation to the current situation. After this first step, they considered and discussed the measures needed to promote, or conversely avoid, the future scenario, depending on its desirability.
